Mickey Mouse, Titi, Donald Duck, Bambi ... These characters from popular culturewe all know them, and yet, it is clear that they have nothing good realistic. The fancy aims to beautify our world by creating characters who look much more likeable than they might be in reality.
If we take the example of Mickey, his friendly face and his big smile make us want to go to meet him. Yet, meet a mouse in real life is not necessarily something attractive for everyone ...
It's this contrast between fantasy created by pop culture and our reality that the Dutch artist Super A wanted to illustrate through this series of visual and of sculptures. For each character, Super A had fun revealing what's behind "Envelope" that we all know. Through these different striking visuals, the artist wants to illustrate this striking contrast that exists between reality and fiction and we must confess that he achieves it perfectly.
If we know a lot of artists who have fun to divert the icons of popular culture, it is clear that Super A has created a style well apart. The works of the artist are also circumnavigating the world: the paintings of Mickey and of Donald are exposed to the Vertical Gallery of Chicago, while titi is exposed to him Honolulu Museum of Art.
